Hi, I’m Julia Meyer – a mixed-media artist from Hamburg. I love combining different materials to bring stories of nature and everyday life to light. For me, art is a space to experiment with curiosity and joy, and to discover new perspectives.
My works often emerge spontaneously, from the impulse to connect things that might not seem to belong together at first glance. Through them, I want to invite people to pause, look more closely, and perhaps take a small piece of that curiosity into their own everyday lives.
My work moves between collage, painting, and object art. I experiment with materials I find in everyday life – fragments of paper, scraps of fabric, natural textures – and transform them into new visual worlds. These combinations emerge intuitively, often in the moment, leaving space for discovery and interpretation.
I am fascinated by the intersection of transience and memory: how we look at things we have long overlooked, and the stories they still hold. In my work, I search for moments in which the ordinary takes on new meaning – sometimes through minimal interventions, sometimes through deliberate layering and deconstruction.
My artistic practice is deeply shaped by process. Each piece arises in dialogue between material, form, and my own inner impulse. It is less about realizing a finished image in my mind, and more about allowing myself to be surprised and making the process itself visible.
With my art, I want to create spaces where viewers feel curious, pause, and form a personal connection to the unexpected combinations – perhaps a moment of recognition, perhaps a new way of seeing.
